A Satoshi Nakamoto-era Bitcoin (BTC) wallet has reportedly been reactivated after 14 years.
According to data released by the tracking service Whale Alert, an old bitcoin address containing 50 bitcoins (equivalent to $3.1 million at current prices) has woken up after 14 years of hibernation.
These coins date back to the time of Bitcoin’s anonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, who was active in the community until late 2010. Nakamoto published his last message on December 13, 2010 on the Bitcointalk forum. He has sent a total of 534 messages in this forum.
Although these old wallets are known as Satoshi-era wallets, it is highly unlikely that these transfers are related to Nakamoto himself.Of course, it should be noted that satoshi era wallets are very rare; Because in 2010 Bitcoin was still unknown and people used personal computers to mine it.
However, this September, a number of old Bitcoin wallets have been reactivated. In particular, on Friday, September 20, several rare transfers were made from miners’ wallets created in 2009.
These transmissions may be related to Satoshi or people close to him; Because the miner behind these transfers had earned his mining reward less than a month after creating the genesis block.
Reports indicate that these 5 miner wallets have transferred a total of 250 bitcoins (equivalent to $15.9 million) to new wallets since the Satoshi era. These wallets received 50 bitcoins each as a reward for mining each block in 2009.
It should be noted that in 2009, Bitcoin was traded at a price of $0.01 per meter. In other words, these miners now have more than 8 billion percent profit.
Despite the recent transfers of old wallets, the price of Bitcoin has shown good resilience and is still trading above the $62,500 range.
